![]() | Decades Activity Day 75 Rainbows, Brownies and Guides enjoyed a variety of activities from different decades over the last century, as part of our Centenary celebrations. Activities included making a bird feeder, toasting marshmallows, origami and making a video diary, to name but a few. As a result they have all completed their Decades Badge. |
Festival of Light One evening, Amelia organised the activities. We celebrated the Thai Festival of Light, whereby candles are lit and floated across water. We made a decoration made from a polystyrene tile and a paper plate. Then we added flowers to the bottom.

![]() | Big Gig '09 View the Photo Gallery On 17th October we went to the Big Gig 2009. We saw: Pikie Lott, Alexandra Burke, Alphabeat, the Noisettes, Taio Cruize, Chipmunk, JLS, the Saturdays and Scouting for Girls. We think the most popular act was JLS, but our personal favourites were: JLS, Scouting for Girls, the Noisettes and Taio Cruize. The crowd was wild. When JLS came out we were literally deafened and when Aston introduced himself the crowd went even crazier. The first song they sang was 'Beat Again'. The screaming was so loud we couldn't hear them singing. Scouting for Girls were also amazing and really got the crowd involved. They were very entertaining and we think it was a perfect ending to a terrific night. The Big Gig 2009, in our opinion was the best Big Gig we've attended. In fact, I think it tops every concert we've attended. It was quite a quick journey and when we got there everyone was so excited. We had quite good seats, good enough to get some great pictures. As we were having so much fun it went quickly and our throats were dry by the end. Once it ended our ears felt really funny. We didn't want it to end. We feel the Gig Gig 2009 was a night we will never forget and we're sure it's not just us who feel that way.

10 Mile Sponsored Walk 09On 9th May 8 Guides and Guiders joined girls from 1st Strood Brownies and 6th Strood Guides on the annual Kay's Garden Sponsored Walk. The weather was kind to us - dry and not too hot. We enjoyed walking through the beautiful Kent Countryside, from Meopham, through to Luddesdowne, on to Harvel and then returning to Kay's Garden Campsite. The group emerged tired but elated at completing the 10 mile hike. Congratulations to all you took part. Half of the money raised goes to the Kay's Garden campsite and other other half goes to the Guide Unit. Well done girls - enjoy a well earned rest with your feet up.

Night Hike 09On 27th March 09, 7 Brownies, 8 Guides and 8 adults/Young Leaders went on a night hike around Cuxton. We had a mixture of fair weather and foul, but weren't put off by the rain! At the top of the hill we stopped for a breather and took in the beautiful sunset as well as the rainbow! At our second stop on top of the hill overlooking the village and the Medway, we enrolled Ali as a Guide and also enrolled 'Budgie' as a Young Leader. 'Pottamus' led an impromptu sing song on the top of the hill before walking down back into the village. Despite the weather, everyone had a great time! Thank you to the parents who joined us on our night hike

The Panda Patrol Make Fossils 09
On Friday 13th March, my patrol, the Pandas, had a Go For It evening. Our activity was making fossils. We had a great time and a lot of laughs. We brought in a wooden spoon, plaster of paris, shells, platicine, a stick and a bowl. To make the fossils, we pressed shells into a lump of plasticine. Then we took the shell out of the plasticine and used the plasticine as a mould. Then we poured plasterof paris into the mould. After the plasterof paris had set, we took the copies of the shells out. Our first attempts weren't very successul but our second attempts were great.
We had a lot of laughs (as I mentioned earlier). These laughs were mainly due to the fact that we had a lot of accidents. Firstly, we broke the spoon Emma brought in. Peter Rabbit was stirring the plaster of paris and the sppon broke. This had everyone in giggles. Then Peter Rabit said that the bowl had plaster of paris stuck to the inside and the bowl wouldn't be usuable! As you can see we had a fantastic evening!
